COERR in Fire Relief Activities in Temporary Shelters

   On Sunday, October 18, 2020, fire broke out in a house in Ban Mae Surin Temporary Shelter in Mae Hong Son’s Khun Yuam District. The cause of fire was leaving kitchen stove unattended while going out of the house, so the house and all properties were burnt down.

   Later, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, a fire broke out in a house in Ban Umpiem Temporary Shelter in Tak Province’s Phop Phra District. The cause was unknown as there were no one in the house during the fire. However, the house and all properties were also burnt down.

   After both incidents, the Committees of the two Temporary Shelters were taking responsibility in finding shelters for fire victims.

   COERR staff then provided to the fire victims relief supplies of food, cooking materials and kitchenware like pot, pan, stove, water bucket, plates, bowls, spoons, drinking cups, clothes and sleeping mats, etc.

   COERR Social Workers also visited the family members to provide moral support and counseling to the affected children and adults.

   Moreover, they were advised about household safety precautions especially checking their house and kitchen before leaving their house to prevent future fire.
